About Us
I am Barbara Davies and I started The National Careline in July 2010.
Prior to this I was an independent financial adviser for nearly 20 years with the last 10 specialising in long term care fees planning for families whose loved ones needed residential or nursing care. During this time I also became a Chartered Financial Planner and a Chartered Member of the Securities Institute.
All of this came to an end following my third back operation in January 2010 when, due to health and mobility issues, I needed a job which didn’t involve traveling to see people.
I didn't want to waste the knowledge and experience that I had gained from helping people and their families who were coping with a relative needing care and so I set up The National Careline as a place where people could go to get the answers they needed.
The National Careline is an information point; it is always changing with new material added regularly and topical news items as they become available.
It is also a lifestyle site and in the National Careline Directory section, I have carefully selected items that will hopefully make life better, safer, or more comfortable, for those who experience mobility problems, need care or are caring for others.
I am also very grateful for the help and co-operation of the many people who are helping on a daily basis to make this project work. Special thanks must also go to TaxHelp for Older People who support the Tax section, the Low Incomes Tax Reform Group for their help with the Employing Carers page and to Jon Wilkey from Gwyn James and Co who are the solicitors providing the legal information for our enquirers. Without their continued help and support, and the encouragement and goodwill from many others, the site would not be able to cover the range of items that it does.
Thank you
Barbara
