Deaf Direct - Herefordshire
Deaf Direct Mission Statement - To promote responsive, professional and empowering opportunities to a diverse and unique community of Deaf and Hard of Hearing people in and around the communities of Herefordshire, Oxfordshire and Worcestershire.
Deaf Direct Communication Services are a local and regional agency operating since 1994 and retaining close links with our core groups of Deaf and Hard of Hearing people. We pride ourselves on our quality of service and our openness to dialogue with all those accessing our services. We have comprehensive feedback and complaints mechanisms in place to facilitate this dialogue. We work closely with our colleagues within Deaf Direct and external partners such as Social Care and Health to ensure deaf people receive the highest quality service possible for all their access needs.
What do we do?
We offer information and advice to any individual or organisation wishing to book a Communication Professional. We pride ourselves in being flexible and responsive, and will therefore do our utmost to accommodate any request regarding communication support and access for deaf people with any degree of deafness or communication preference.
We source and book appropriate Communication Professionals including:
- British Sign Language / English interpreters
- Speech to text reporters
- Notetakers (manual and electronic)
- Deaf relay interpreters
- Deaf blind interpreters
These Communication Professionals enable and facilitate communication between deaf and hearing people.
Please try to book as far in advance as possible because there is a national shortage of Communication Professionals.
